DRG killed rewarded Naxalite commander
Bijapur. Once again there has been an encounter between the police and Maoists in the district, in which Jan Militia commander Toya Potam, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was killed. Weapons, explosive materials and other daily use items have been recovered from the spot. This encounter took place in Pusnar forest of Gangalur area.
Security forces had received information about the presence of Gangalur Area Committee Secretary Dinesh Modiam and 20-25 other armed Maoists in the forest of Pusnar. On this, a joint team of DRG Dantewada, DRG Bijapur and CARIPU 85 had gone out on searching. During this afternoon there was an encounter between the police and Maoists.
Police claim that 3-4 Maoists have also been injured in this encounter. The slain Maoist is accused of kidnapping a father and a mother and daughter from the same family, killing them and then dumping their bodies in the river. Four outstanding warrants were also pending.
