Drugs worth more than Rs 27 lakh recovered from Champhai, Mizoram

Champhai (ANI): Assam Rifles has recovered narcotics worth Rs 27.68 lakh from the general area of Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road in Mizoram’s Champhai district. “Cigarettes, whiskey and beer of foreign origin worth Rs 27.68 lakh were recovered from the general area of Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road in Champhai district on October 24,” a statement issued by Assam Rifles on Wednesday said. ,

The operation, which was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs Preventive Force, was based on specific information.
The seized contraband was handed over to Champhai Customs Preventive Force station for further legal proceedings.
Assam Rifles, also known as North East Sentinels, said it will continue its efforts against illegal smuggling and has doubled its efforts to nab the kingpins of smuggling of contraband goods in Mizoram.
