Dry, low-hanging branches pose threat to motorists at Canacona
CANACONA: Besides potholes and bad roads, pedestrians, students and motorists now have to be wary of dried and low-hanging branches of trees
along the roadside at Pansule-Kindle, Canacona.
“Shri Katyayani Baneshwar school falls is just a few metres away from here and so, this road is the usual route for many students. There is an emergency management committee in the taluka which should take note of such dangerous trees and cut them before any tragedy strikes,” said local Viju Chari.
“There are acacia and other trees at a sharp turn at Partagal on Canacona to Poinguinim road. Some of the trees in this area were cut down by the emergency committee but they have grown again. Canacona deputy collector is the chairman of this committee and he should take proactive steps to avoid any potential mishap,” said another local.
It is pertinent to note that NH 66 runs through Karmal Ghat and being a national highway, is always a busy stretch of the road.
