DSP issued challan to traffic constables who were riding bike without helmet
Raipur. Today, for the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the duty of officers / employees was put on duty from 05.00 am for traffic management at Engineering College Sezabahar. Two employees from the traffic police station, a head constable and a constable, reached the duty place on their two-wheelers without wearing helmets. Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurjeet Singh, already present at Engineering College Chowk, saw them and stopped both of them and inquired the reason for not wearing helmets. On not getting a satisfactory answer, action was taken against both of them under the provisions of Section 129/194 (D) of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving a two-wheeler without a helmet and each was fined Rs 1000-1000. There is a provision of a fine of Rs 500 under Section 129/194 (D) of the Motor Vehicles Act for citizens driving two-wheelers without helmets.

chhattisgarh news It is noteworthy that in section 210 (B) of the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019, it has been provided that if the authority whose duty is to ensure compliance of the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, they (police officers) violate the provisions, then their punishment will be doubled. Also, Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh has instructed all the officers / employees posted in the district to compulsorily wear helmet / seatbelt while driving two-wheeler / four-wheeler in uniform and follow traffic rules and set an example for the citizens.
Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic OP Sharma has appealed to the staff and citizens that helmet and seatbelt are for the safety of the driver’s life, it must be worn while driving.
