ICDS Women and Child Development Department has made videos in local Wagdi and Hindi to promote nutrition through five recipes for making halwa, ghol, cheela, laddu and rot. These recipes will be delivered to every home of Dungarpur district through Anganwadi, Asha, ANM, Sathins. Deputy Director ICDS, Dungarpur Pankaj Dwivedi said that these videos have been prepared by NGO IP Global in local dialect among the local people. Suman said that according to the National Family Health Survey-5, out of every 1,000 living children in the state, 25 children do not celebrate their first birthday. In Dungarpur district only 47.5 percent are breastfed within an hour of birth. 66.3 percent children are exclusively breastfed till the age of 6 months. Only 5.1 percent of children aged 6 to 23 months get adequate nutrition. He said that 15.6 percent of the children in the district up to the age of 5 years are malnourished.
At the same time, 79.8 percent of children aged between 6 months to 5 years are anemic. 72.6 percent of women aged 15 to 49 years are anemic. 26.8 percent of women aged 15 to 49 years are underweight. The situation of malnutrition in the district is a matter of serious concern and for this everyone has to make coordinated efforts to make Dungarpur a well-nourished city.
