ED team attacked while conducting raid, commotion ensued
New Delhi: Delhi ED team has been attacked. They had gone to Bijwasan area to investigate a case related to cyber fraud. It is being told that the accused attacked the team members during the raid. However, no one has suffered any serious injuries.
ED team had gone to raid the hideout of Ashok Sharma and his brother in connection with the PPPYL cyber app fraud case. An FIR has been registered in this case and the matter is under control now.
ED sources said that they had gone to raid the criminals in the investigation of the PPPYL cyber app fraud case. However, during this time cyber criminals Ashok Sharma and his brother attacked the team members. The FIR states that when the officers were conducting the raid, they were attacked.
ED sources said that in the case in which the ED team had reached for the raid, thousands of cyber crimes like phishing scam, QR code fraud, part time job scam have been registered across the country.
ED sources said that with the help of i4C and FIU-IND, thousands of reported crime cases were analyzed. It was found that crime money was being put into 15000 different accounts. Then debit/credit cards were obtained.
Agency sources say that using these cards, money was sent to top up virtual accounts on UAE-based Pyypl payment aggregator. Then the funds were used to buy crypto-currency from Pyypl.
According to the agency source, the entire network was being run by suspicious chartered accountants. For example, today, ED HIU has searched the top CA involved in this racket and further searches are on.
