ED team still in Durg Bhilai, not 5 but 7 crore cash found till now
Durg. Yesterday afternoon, ED arrested driver Asim Das alias Bappa Bengali, resident of Housing Board, Bhilai, in the parking lot of Triten Hotel, Raipur when he was preparing to come to Bhilai with cash in Korba passing car number CG-12 AR-6300. ED found around Rs 3 crore in cash kept in a bag from his car parked in the hotel parking lot.
When the ED caught the accused driver Aseem Das alias Bappa and searched his belongings kept in a hotel room on his behest, cash worth about Rs 2 crore was found there.
The ED team immediately caught the accused and brought him to the office along with the cash and during interrogation it was found that the accused had sent the bag full of money through another car to his house in Housing Board Colony, Bhilai yesterday afternoon through his 14-year-old son Pritam Das. Is. An ED team was immediately sent to Housing Board Industrial Area but by then the wife and son of the accused driver had locked the house and ran away.
When ED broke the lock of the locked room and went inside, the haphazard manner in which the money was kept made it easy to guess that some bags of money were missing.
According to sources, ED has also received information that Aseem Das had approximately Rs 10 crore whereas only Rs 7 crore 36 lakh has been seized. Where the remaining Rs 3.5 crore went is a matter of investigation. When ED caught Asim in the hotel parking lot in Raipur, bundles of Rs 500, which was Rs 3 crore, were found in two plastic bags in the car. Asim has revealed more secrets during ED’s interrogation. When another ED team reached his house Jamul Housing Board Block 15, Quarter-17, there were bundles of Rs 500 notes hidden under the mattress on the diwan bed, while two bags lying under the bed were completely filled and The chain of a bag was found open which was filled with half a rupee.
During closed-door investigation, ED has recovered Rs 2 crore 36 lakh from Bhilai. Asim Das’s wife Sumitra Das and son Pritam were not found in the house due to which there is a suspicion that they too have gone away with a bag full of money. Information has been received that after interrogating Aseem, the ED team has reached some possible locations of Durg Bhilai since morning.
