ED’s big action in land for job case, seized Lalu Prasad’s property worth 6 crores
In the Land for Job case, the Enforcement Directorate seized assets worth Rs 6 crore of the Lalu family in a major action on Monday. Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are under investigation for the alleged ‘job in exchange for land’ scam. The CBI team has questioned several members of the Lalu family in this matter.
Lalu Prasad’s family says that as part of a political conspiracy, the case of ‘job in exchange for land’ has been raised once again. The CBI has already investigated this case twice and it did not find any evidence. After this the CBI had closed the case. Then now what the CBI is trying to know by inquiring in this matter.
Significantly, in the ‘Land for Job’ case, in the month of May, the CBI team raided 9 places across the country. The CBI raided Patna, Ara, Bhojpur, Delhi and Gurugram. The premises of former Bihar minister Premchand Gupta were also raided by the CBI. Along with this, the CBI raided the Patna and Ara houses of MLA Kiran Devi, who is close to RJD President Lalu Yadav.
What is the whole matter?
The case pertains to appointments made in the Railways in lieu of land allegedly gifted or sold to Lalu Prasad’s family when he was Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. The CBI is also probing this. The CBI has said in its charge sheet that appointments were made in the Railways in violation of the laid down norms and procedures of the Indian Railways.
