Eight thousand posts vacant in Electricity Board
Hamirpur. At present around eight thousand posts are vacant in the Electricity Board. Due to so many vacant posts, the workload on the employees working in the board has increased. The situation in the field is such that each employee is responsible for 25 to 30 transformers, but the government is not paying attention to this. Not only this, despite the approval, the vacant posts in the board are not being filled.
This disclosure was made by State President of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Employees Union, Kameshwar Sharma in the meeting. A demand was also placed before the Chief Minister to start new recruitments on the vacant posts in the Electricity Board. On May 20, 2023, the Service Committee has given approval to fill about 1000 posts in the Electricity Board, but even after seven months have passed, the management has not started this recruitment process till date. Despite the huge shortage of employees, electricity is being supplied smoothly to 26 lakh electricity consumers.
He revealed that each employee working in the field in the Electricity Board has the responsibility of 25 to 30 transformers, due to which the employees are becoming victims of accidents. Recently, the employees working on the posts of T-Mate and Helper have been promoted to the post of Assistant.
Lineman and sub-centre assistants have been made, due to which 1500 sanctioned posts of T-mate and helper have become vacant in the board. The State President has demanded from the management class that the new recruitment process in the Electricity Board should be started as soon as possible.
State President Kameshwar Sharma said that the promotion file from Chief Engineer Zone Mandi from Sub-Station Assistant to Junior Engineer Substation on November 8 has been sent to the Electricity Board Headquarters for approval and from Chief Engineer North Zone Dharamshala, the promotion file from Lineman to Foreman has also been sent on November 22. The concerned file has been sent to the Electricity Board Headquarters for approval, but even after a long time has passed, the promotion files have not been approved.
The State President said that despite repeated announcements by the Chief Minister, the old pension has not been restored in the Electricity Board. The union demands from the management class that as per the announcement of the Chief Minister, the old pension should be restored in the Electricity Board on the lines of other departments and boards. The state president said that a meeting of state officials of the union will be held in Shimla next week.
