Elderly murdered in Goa villa by couple they invited
Panaji: A 77-year-old businessman, originally from Punjab, was found dead at Pilern Villa on Sunday, murdered by the couple he had invited, police said. Nims Dhillon alias Narottam Singh Dhillon was murdered at his Horizon Azura home. Maharashtra Police later detained the couple in Vashi near Mumbai.
Porvorim police said preliminary investigation revealed that Dhillon was strangulated to death.
Around 10 am on Sunday morning, one of Dhillon’s employees called the Porvorim police and informed them that Dhillon was lying dead on his bed. Porvorim police conducted a detailed panchnama and the body was taken to GMC for postmortem.
Porvorim PI Rahu Parab said Neetu Rahuja and Jitendra Sahu, residents of Madhya Pradesh, have been booked in connection with the murder.
North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan said, “Prima facie, we found injuries on the body of the deceased and jewelery was missing. We have registered a case of murder and robbery.”
Investigation revealed that the couple had come to Dhillon’s invitation to stay with him around 11 pm on Saturday night. Dhillon owned a villa and rented out four other villas in the same complex to tourists.
From the statements of some people present at the spot, the police came to know that a gold chain was missing from the victim’s body.
Police soon identified the couple who were traveling towards Mumbai in a rented car. Although the number plate of the vehicle had been removed, police still managed to trace the couple. Porvorim police asked their Maharashtra counterparts to take the accused into custody.
Porvorim police said the car was stopped in Vashi and its occupants were taken into custody by Navi Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit I.
“We informed the crime branch team about the gold chain and it was recovered after interrogation,” Porvorim police said. Dhillon was living in Goa since 2016 and was in the hospitality business.
