Electricity lines will be cut at many electricity consumers within 15 days

Raigarh: Consumers owe electricity bills of more than Rs 54 crore to the electricity department. The Regulatory Commission has given instructions to recover the amount by March under any circumstances. In such a situation, the electricity department has started taking strict action against the defaulters. The department has issued notices to more than 2 thousand consumers with outstanding electricity bills of more than Rs 20 thousand. A warning has also been given to disconnect the line if the bill is not deposited within fifteen days.

Actually, there are preparations to start prepaid meter system in Raipur Bilaspur Durg and Raigarh city after March. For this, the tender process has been completed at the state level. The concerned contract company is going to install prepaid meters in urban areas after the month of April. Before this, CSPDCL has to clear the previous balance of the consumers. Talking about Raigarh district, the electricity consumers in the district have outstanding electricity bills of around Rs 54 crore. The Regulatory Commission has given instructions to recover this amount by March under any circumstances. In such a situation, the department has started issuing notices to the defaulters.
