Elephant dies due to electrocution

Raigarh. The process of death of elephants in Dharamjaigarh forest division area is not showing any signs of stopping. On Wednesday, again a case of death of a 20-year-old elephant has come to light in the area. Prima facie, the cause of death of the elephant has been found to be due to electric shock. This 20 year old male elephant has died after getting hit by a live wire installed to protect the field of a farmer in the area. The elephant’s dead body was found covered with para (puwal) on the spot.

According to the information received in this case, a farm owner named Mahipal was detained and interrogated by the Forest Department, on which he confessed to laying the electric trap. On Wednesday, on the information of finding a dead body of an elephant in Khamhar South area, DFO Abhishek Jogawat immediately reached the spot along with his team. After which necessary departmental investigation and action was initiated. Let us tell you that a large group of 22 elephants was roaming in this area of Boro Range for some time. According to the information received from departmental sources about this incident which took place under Boro forest range, the dead body of the elephant is about 2 days old. It is being told.

In the Khamhar South Forest Complex area, a person named Mahipal had made low power fencing to protect the crops grown in his field, but a wire carrying electric current was also attached to it. Due to which another voiceless person died untimely. During the tenure of the current DFO, the death toll of elephants is about to cross more than a dozen. It is also surprising that in the history of DFO Jogawat Dharamjaygarh, so many elephants died during his tenure, most of which died due to electrocution.

Despite this, he is probably the first officer to remain in the Dharamjaygarh Forest Division. However, in some previous cases of elephant death, suspension action has been taken against the concerned farmers and responsible employees if negligence was found against them. But in most of the cases, the forest guard concerned was held responsible and he was suspended. However, in only one recent case both the forest guard and the deputy ranger were suspended. Here, despite all the efforts made by the Forest Department regarding security, once again the death of an elephant due to electrocution in the area seems to expose the functioning of the department.
