Elephants attack people, death of mother and son
Guwahati (IANS). A herd of elephants wreaked havoc in Juria area of Nagaon district of Assam. The elephants attacked the people, killing the mother-son duo and injuring two others. An official of the Forest Department gave this information on Friday.
The four people injured in the incident were taken to the hospital where the doctors declared the mother-son brought dead.
The other two injured, who are serious, have been referred to Nagaon City Hospital.
The deceased were identified as Khuteja Khatoon and his son Juwel Ahmed and their bodies were sent for post-mortem.
According to the official, the herd of elephants had come from Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in search of food.
Human-elephant conflict is on the rise in Assam and several lives have been lost in the last few years.
