Korba. With the increase in the number of elephants, the elephant-human conflict is also increasing. Villagers are being constantly alerted by the forest department due to the elephants camping in the forest near Korbi. The elephant-human conflict in the forest area of the district is not stopping.

There is a corridor of elephants from the dense forest of Ambikapur to Dharamjaygarh forest area via Katghora and Korba forest divisions for many years. Even now elephants travel through this route. For the last five years, elephants have started making Pasan area their permanent abode. During this time, their number in the area was 34. The number is increasing year by year.

Due to indiscriminate cutting of trees and increasing illegal occupation of forest land by people, the roaming area of elephants is now becoming smaller. Char, Sal, Gunja bark and bamboo are the favorite food of elephants. Due to lack of fodder in the forest area, the herds are moving towards the residential area.
