Elephants destroyed tomato crop, also damaged houses
Jashpur. In the Pathalgaon area, a lot of anger was seen among the villagers due to elephants trampling on the farmers’ tomatoes and other crops. Last night, a team of forest staff chased away two elephants from the residential area of Rede village and took out two elderly people from a house and brought them to a safe place, these people narrowly escaped. For two days, these elephants have repeatedly created havoc by reaching Pemla, Rede and Saritola villages of Pathalgaon.
Elephants have badly damaged the vegetable crops and houses of the farmers by trampling them. Along with this, the grains kept here were also cleaned. This morning these elephants were roaming near Pemla School. After this, the forest personnel have asked to remain alert in 3 nearby villages. School children were discharged yesterday after the elephants roamed here. The employees of the Forest Department are constantly monitoring the activities of these elephants and instructing them to be alert in advance.
