Elephants ruined farmers’ crops
Raigarh: A group of 10 elephants is roaming in the forest of Chaal Range in Kharsia area of the district. It is being told that there is a gathering of elephants in Dumarpali area. In the morning the group of elephants has gone towards Aadpathara forest. As soon as the forest department received the information, friendly teams including rangers and beat guards started making announcements in the villages to trace the location of the elephants.
While roaming from the bark range, groups of elephants sometimes come towards the village, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the people. However, there has been no loss of life yet. It is said that the crops of three farmers have been ruined. Elephants are creating havoc towards Bhalunara and Ranisagar.
The Kharisaya forest is associated with the bark range. It is being told that an elephant was seen here two months ago also. Due to elephants being in the forest, one can go towards Aadpathra, Gurda, Navagaon, Banipathra, Addu, Bhalunara, Chhote Doomarpali, Madanpur and Ranisagar villages. The forest department is tracking and monitoring the elephants.
