Encounter with terrorists: Anger in the country after the martyrdom of soldiers, mother said – my son belonged to the country
Panipat: My son was from the country. We gave him for the country. There is a lot of sorrow but I will not cry. These are the words of the mother of Major Ashish Dhaunek, who was martyred while fighting terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. With moist eyes and a choked throat she said that her son had no more than three sisters. All the sisters of the country were his and he has given martyrdom to protect them all. The atmosphere of martyr Major’s house in Anantnag was very emotional on Thursday. Apart from Panipat, people from nearby areas also stood outside his house and were waiting for the dead body. However, the administration says that now his body will reach home on Friday. Major Ashish Dhanok’s uncle told that the last time he spoke to Ashish was on phone only. Then he said that I will come in October and then the house will be shifted. Actually, his family lived on rent in an area of Panipat. Some time back, the family had purchased a plot and built a new house in TDI, Panipat. He was going to shift to this house, but now only his dead body will come to this house. The family had planned to organize the housewarming ceremony on 23rd October. The reason for this was that Major Ashish’s birthday also happens to be on the same day. That is why he was about to come on leave, but now only the dead body will come for the last farewell. 34 year old Ashish has a 4 year old daughter. He left behind his mother, father, wife and daughter. Major’s family members said that his body will be taken to the new house at TDI. After this, his last farewell will be given in his native village Binjhaul. The family told that on Wednesday evening the army officials had called and informed about the martyrdom of the Major. When this information spread within some time, people started gathering at his residence. Ashish’s mother Kamla Devi is in a bad condition and his wife is lying unconscious. Still the mother cried and said that I had given my son to the country. Family members told that martyr Major Ashish’s in-laws house is in Jind. He had come in March to attend his brother-in-law’s wedding. During this time, he also came home and saw the work going on on the new house. Now he had to come on leave in October.
