Engineer cheated of Rs 15 lakh, lost money while trying to earn extra money at home
Raigarh: Engineers of Jindal Steel and Power Company of Raigarh became victims of online fraud. He saw a Like and Earn video on YouTube and lost Rs 15 lakh 38 thousand. The thugs lured them to earn money sitting at home and by showing them videos, they made them download Any Desk app. On his complaint, Cyber Range police station has registered a case and started investigation.
Jindal Steel Power Company has an engineering hostel in Kotra Road, Raigarh. Engineer Mohit also lives in the company. Mohit was watching videos on YouTube to earn money sitting at home. In this, a promise was made to give commission for liking a video after watching it.
After searching the video, Mohit got a call. The caller lured the person to earn money sitting at home. For this, a YouTube link was sent to Mohit’s number and asked to like it. Initially, after liking the video, money was seen coming into Mohit’s account. The thugs sent its screen shot to Mohit.
The swindlers deceived him that only his money would be visible in the account just created, but he would not be able to use it. To deposit money in their account, the fraudsters shared the Any Desk app link and asked them to download it. After downloading the app, the fraudsters claimed to deposit money through UPI ID.
