England batsmen may have to face spin test in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: There was a mild warning to the England camp in the words of India head coach Rahul Dravid when he said that the pitch in the first Test will favor the spinners as the game progresses.

Ahead of the first Test here starting on Thursday, the 22-yard trampoline here was looking dry, especially with the good length of field on either side of it.

“It is difficult to say (the nature of the pitch). Once it (match) starts we will see and find out. From what I have seen, it looks good,” Dravid started his statement quite casually during a media interaction on Tuesday.

Then he said: “But you can move around a little. How early and how fast, I’m not sure. But it can definitely move around a little bit as the game progresses.”

On the other hand, fast bowler Mark Wood admitted that the England camp has discussed the nature of the pitch but without creating any stir in their minds.

“We have discussed the pitch. But I wouldn’t say we should discuss it so long to worry about it. There is so much confidence in our group that we can do something special. We have spinners, we have seamers, we have good batsmen and we have a good recent history behind us.”

Wood, however, admitted that the England players would have to perform well on the tracks offered during the series.

“We know this is a huge task. Coming here and thinking it is going to be difficult is not good because the pitches are not what we are used to. We have to find a way.

Wood said, “We will adapt. We have a captain who always wants to take the game forward. So, it should be an entertaining series.” However, that adaptation may not be an easy process for the British.

“We have enough time to prepare the pitch. Both the batsmen and bowlers will get help, but that will change as the match progresses, but I think these players are experienced enough to apply themselves and score runs,” said an HCA official who declined to be named. Didn’t want to tell. Told PTI.

Bumrah missing from India’s training

Despite the training session being optional, Indian players took to the field here on Tuesday and sweated profusely.

All members of the team, except fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, took part in the nets which lasted for more than two hours.
