Environment Board took action on officer’s son, fined lakhs

Durg: The Environment Board on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 1,36,250 on Keerti Pathology Lab of Anuj Meshram, son of CMHO Dr. JP Meshram. This action has been taken by the local officer of the Environment Board, Vijay Kumar Porte, for starting the lab without taking Environment NOC (No Objection Certificate). In the investigation of this matter, he found Keerti Pathology Lab to take license on 20 May 2023 and operate the lab. 1250 for 109 days from the date of issue of license till the date of inspection, considering the violation of Bio Medical Waste Rule-2016. Penalty is imposed on daily basis. On September 4, Lab chief Anuj Meshram entered into an agreement with the government-nominated SMS agency to collect bio-medical waste till January 31, 2024. Will apply afresh for further environment NOC. Earlier, his application made on 10 January 2020 was rejected on 28 May 2021. The surprising thing in the whole episode is that for starting the lab without Environmental NOC, the Environment Board imposed Rs 1.36 lakh on the operator. penalty has been imposed. But no action has been taken so far against the person who put the file of Nursing Home Act in the collector’s office and signed it without NOC from the environment. Action in this matter is to be taken by the Supervising Authority / Collector or Director Health of the Nursing Home Act.
