Expedite the establishment of 4G network in Ladakh
Jammu. Jammu: Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh chaired a review meeting to discuss the ongoing implementation of 4G Saturation Project in the Union Territory. It is pertinent to mention that a total of 241 4G BTS/Tower sites have been approved under this project to provide voice/data connectivity to the untouched villages and settlements of Ladakh.
Improving connectivity
Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh chaired a review meeting to discuss the ongoing implementation of 4G saturation project in the Union Territory. A total of 241 4G BTS/tower sites have been approved to provide voice/data connectivity to untouched villages and hamlets.
At the beginning of the meeting, Hariom Solanki, General Manager, BSNL, Leh gave a power-point presentation on sites and land allotment details, tower work construction details, OFC and routes details and highlighted the bottlenecks, challenges hindering the 4G saturation project. The GM told the Advisor that 180 towers will be installed by the end of September 2024.
Highlighting the importance of internet connectivity, the Advisor said that Ladakh with its geographical challenges needs faster connectivity to stay connected with the rest of the world.Keeping in view the weather conditions of Ladakh, the Advisor directed all officers to ensure proper storage of essential material before the onset of winter. During the meeting, deliberations and discussions were held focusing on assessing the current progress of the 4G saturation project and devising strategies to overcome bottlenecks slowing down the implementation process.
“The project aims to enhance digital connectivity in Ladakh by ensuring that both Leh and Kargil districts are equipped with high-speed 4G internet services. The meeting was attended by Administrative Secretary, IT/Telecom, UT Ladakh; District Magistrate Leh; CEC (LAHDC); DCSO, 14 Corps; and other concerned officers,” an official said.
