JAMMU: A key prosecution witness on Thursday identified JKLF chairman Yasin Malik as the main shooter in the 1990 killing of Indian Air Force personnel in Srinagar. On 25 January 1990, four Indian Air Force personnel, including a squadron leader, were killed and 22 others were injured in a firing incident in the Rawalpora area of Srinagar. The firing took place when they were waiting for the staff bus for duty.
Former Air Force personnel Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, an eyewitness, on Thursday identified Yasin Malik as the main shooter who fired on the Air Force personnel in Rawalpora. Malik was produced in the court via video conferencing from Delhi’s Tihar Jail, where he is lodged after being sentenced to life imprisonment in another terror offence.
CBI lawyer Monica Kohli told reporters that the identification of Malik as the main shooter in this firing incident by an eyewitness is an important point.
