Fake doctor arrested in Odisha, clinic sealed

Bhubaneswar (IANS). The Odisha Police on Monday arrested a man at Dengousta in Ganjam district for allegedly practicing allopathic medicine without any medical qualification and registration.

Police said that the accused has been identified as Subhrajit Panda. Panda was running clinics by the name Best Poly Clinic at Dengousta in Ganjam district and Ranihat area of Cuttack city for the last one year. He took the help of a medicine representative to treat patients and prescribe medicines.

A woman developed kidney ailment after consuming medicine from a fake doctor and had to undergo dialysis in Bhubaneswar. After this incident, the relatives of the patient lodged a complaint with the police. When the police checked Panda’s clinic in Dengousta, it was found that all his medical certificates and other documents were fake.

Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M. said that we found that his MBBS certificate specialization from Germany, orthopedic certificate and some fellowship documents are fake. We caught him red-handed at his clinic.

The SP said that he was earlier arrested by the Telangana Police in 2020 in Hyderabad for posing as a doctor. He was in jail for 15 days and is now out on bail. He said that the trial of the case is still going on.

The SP appealed to the people that whenever they come to know about any such fake doctor, they should inform the police.
