Families of 6 soldiers martyred in the line of duty will get ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore, approval from Delhi government

New Delhi: Paying tribute to the indomitable spirit and sacrifice of security personnel, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to the families of six deceased personnel. Sacrificed his life in the line of duty.

The decision was taken after the recent meeting of the Group of Ministers, where the names of these brave hearts – Captain Jayant Joshi, Major Raghunath, ASI Om Prakash, Puneet Gupta, Praveen Kumar and ASI Radhey Shyam – were recommended for important recognition. It is to be noted that since 2016, the Kejriwal government has remained steadfast in its commitment to honor the service of those personnel who make supreme sacrifice in the course of their genuine official duties. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on the families left behind and ensure that they can continue to live a life with dignity.

During this, Revenue Minister Atishi, while emphasizing the unwavering dedication of the Kejriwal government for the welfare of the families of the heroes, said, ‘Our armed forces personnel, whether they are Defence, Delhi Police, Paramilitary Forces, Delhi Fire Service, Home Guard or Civil Defense. Be a volunteer. Exemplify unparalleled courage and commitment. Their sacrifice for the nation is immeasurable, and it is our duty to stand with their families in this difficult time.”

Of these 6 deceased soldiers, 2 are from the Indian Army, 2 from Delhi Police, 1 from Delhi Civil Defense and 1 from Delhi Fire Services.
Under this scheme to honor these personnel, Delhi Government provides an honorarium of Rs 1 crore to the families of all uniformed personnel resident in Delhi or posted on duty in Delhi, who displayed bravery and lost their lives in the line of duty .
