Merut. A farmer has set himself on fire outside Mawana SDM office. Although after this sudden incident people nearby ran to save the farmer, but by the time people could take any step to save the burning farmer and extinguish the fire, the farmer’s body was burnt to a great extent. The name of the farmer is said to be Jagveer who had come to Mawana SDM office with his complaint to SDM Akhilesh Yadav. It is being told that Jagveer had a land on which Jagveer was sowing his crops for many years, but the forest department had captured that land, claiming it to be his own. About which he had complained to SDM Mawana.
The victim farmer had also alleged that 2 days ago, a tractor had been driven on the farmer’s standing wheat crop and the crop was destroyed. The forest department had laid claim to the land where the standing crop was plowed. Has expressed. The farmer had suffered a lot due to running the tractor on the standing crop. It is being told that the farmer had reached the SDM office to get compensation for his crop, but his complaint was not being heard. Troubled by this, the farmer set himself on fire. After this incident, Hastinapur MLA, Minister of State Dinesh Khatik also reached the spot and said that first notice should have been given to the farmer and only after giving the notice, the land should have been taken over. The farmer should have been given a chance to harvest his crop. He said that first of all a notice should have been given to vacate the field and after that some action had to be taken, but strict action will be taken against any officer who is at fault in this matter. In this case, Meerut SP Dehat Kamlesh Bahadur said that the farmer who set himself on fire, Jagveer, is a resident of Hastinapur police station area. Today he tried to set himself on fire in the tehsil complex of Mawana.
