Tamil Nadu: Former minister Panruti Ramachandran has registered a new political party with the Election Commission of India under the name MGR AIADMK.
Engineer Panruti Ramachandran entered politics due to his admiration for former Chief Minister Anna. He served as the Transport Minister in the cabinet of DMK leader Karunanidhi. Later, he worked with MGR and also served as a minister in his cabinet. After MGR’s death, he aligned himself with Jayalalithaa and later joined the PMK.
Subsequently, he launched a party called the People’s Welfare Alliance and joined the DMK alliance. DMDK founder Vijayakanth was associated with him when the party was launched. He led the AIADMK-DMDK alliance. Later, he rejoined the AIADMK under Jayalalithaa’s leadership.
Following this, when former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam formed the AIADMK Volunteer Rights Recovery Committee, he was appointed as his political advisor, after which he was expelled from the AIADMK.
In this situation, it is being said that O. Panneerselvam is dissatisfied that only two months remain before the elections and he has not yet made a decision, and that he is planning to launch a new party. It is noteworthy that Panruti Ramachandran is launching a new party, while O. Panneerselvam’s supporters Manoj Pandian and Vaithilingam have already joined the DMK.
