Fifth day of Navratri, morning aarti performed at Jhandewalan temple in Delhi
New Delhi (ANI): Aarti was performed early in the morning at Jhadewalan temple in Delhi on the fifth day of Navratri. Devotees gathered at the temple in large numbers to participate in the aarti and pay respect to Goddess Durga. As the priests prayed, the temple echoed with music. The fifth day of Navratri festival is dedicated to Goddess ‘Skanda Mata’, a form of Goddess Durga. It is believed that worshiping ‘Skanda Mata’ frees us from negativity and brings positive energy. Morning aarti was also performed at Mumba Devi temple in Mumbai in Maharashtra. The 9-day long festival of Shardiya Navratri aims to worship Goddess Durga and her nine incarnations, known as Navadurga. Navratri means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit. Hindus celebrate a total of four Navratris throughout the year. Sharadiya Navratri is celebrated from Navami of Ashwin Shukla Paksha to Pratipada. Although it is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country, different traditions are more prevalent in different states. In India, Navratri is celebrated in many ways. Ram Leela, a festival in which scenes from Ramayana are performed, is organized in different parts of the country. The burning of the effigies of King Ravana on Vijayadashami marks the conclusion of the story. (ANI)
