Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused CM KCR
Hyderabad: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday alleged that Telangana, which was a revenue surplus state at the time of its formation in 2014, has become a revenue deficit state and the ‘credit’ for this goes to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
Addressing a “meet and greet” event organized for Malkajgiri BJP candidate N Ramachander Rao, he said the next two to three generations of Telangana will be spent in repaying the debt.
The Finance Minister said that Telangana is one of the states which is opposing bringing liquor, petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST and is of the opinion that if they come under GST, the rates will be fair.
“Investment is coming into the state anyway. The state which was a revenue surplus (in 2014) has now turned into a revenue deficit state. The credit for this goes to KCR. Today Telangana is in debt. In the next two to three Over the generations, our children will have to repay those debts,” she said.
