Fine on Deputy Secretary of Bengal Education Board for not implementing court order
Kolkata (IANS). The Calcutta High Court on Friday fined a deputy secretary of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) for not following and implementing its earlier order.
A single-judge bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay also said that if a person of the level of Deputy Secretary is unable to implement the court order in three months, he has no right to continue in the post of Chairman.
Justice Gangopadhyay said, “He should either be removed from that chair or some other action can be initiated against him.”
He also said that the financial penalty will have to be paid by the concerned Deputy Secretary from his own pocket and not from the board’s treasury.
There were errors in six questions in the written examination of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2014.
The court had ordered the board to give full marks of six questions to the candidates.
However, a candidate approached the court saying that he was not given the additional six marks, resulting in his not passing.
The court directed the board to examine the answer sheet and accordingly award marks to the candidate concerned within a certain time frame.
However, since the deadline was not respected, the candidate informed the court again, after which it imposed a financial penalty on the Deputy Secretary, who was responsible for implementing the order.
