FIR lodged against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh at Connaught Place police station
New Delhi. Police have registered two separate offenses against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at the Connaught Place police station late last night. An FIR has been registered against Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh following the complaint of women wrestlers sitting on dharna at Jantar Mantar. Two FIRs have been registered against him at the Connaught Place police station in Delhi, out of which one is registered under the POCSO Act.
An FIR will be lodged against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President of Wrestling Federation of India today itself. The Solicitor General (SG) has given this information in the Supreme Court on Friday after the issue got heated up across the country. He has told that FIR will be registered in this matter today itself. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the wrestlers demanded security. He said that a special task force should be deployed for his security. At present, the court has adjourned further hearing of the case to next week.
During the hearing, 40 cases registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh were also mentioned. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal said that he is concerned about the safety of women wrestlers. They have evidence that the Railers sitting on the dharna are in danger. During this, the Solicitor General said that the Police Commissioner is present there. He will handle the security related things.
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta presented the matter before a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha. SG Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that the Delhi Police would register an FIR by this evening. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal urged the Supreme Court to issue directions to provide security to women wrestlers under the supervision of a retired judge. SG Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of Delhi Police, says that the police can solve all these concerns.

The Supreme Court directed the Delhi Police to file an affidavit mentioning the steps taken to provide security to the minor girl. Veteran wrestlers are sitting on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding action on the allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Please tell that the wrestlers had approached the Supreme Court on Monday. Wrestler Vinesh Phogat along with 6 other women wrestlers have filed a petition demanding that an FIR be lodged against Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Singh. The wrestlers said that they had given a complaint at the Connaught Place police station on April 21, but no action was taken on its basis.
On behalf of the wrestlers, advocate Kapil Sibal told CJI DY Chandrachud that the wrestlers are protesting, 7 women wrestlers have complained. Sibal told the court that no FIR has been registered in this matter. On this, the court said that we will hear on Friday. CJI asked, do you want the identity not to be revealed? On this Sibal said, yes we do not want this to come to the fore. To this the CJI said, these are serious allegations regarding sexual harassment by international wrestlers representing India. The court heard again on Friday.
