New Delhi: A massive fire broke out near Etawah on Wednesday evening in an express train going from New Delhi to Darbhanga. The fire broke out in the sleeper bogie of the train. The bogie in which the fire broke out had double the capacity of passengers. As soon as the fire broke out, the passengers saved their lives by jumping. At present there is no news of any casualty. Six passengers were injured during landing and jumping. The entire bogie has been destroyed by fire. The luggage of some passengers is also said to be burnt in the bogie. The accident happened near Sarai Bhupat railway station in Etawah. OHE has been closed on the Kanpur-Delhi railway route. The operation of trains on this route is currently at a standstill. 16 trains have been stopped at various places. Orders have been given to investigate the cause of the fire.
The bogie has been completely burnt to ashes. The cause of the fire is not known at present. On receiving information about the accident, along with the Railway Police Force, Civil Police also reached the spot. Nearby fire brigade has also been called. Efforts are being made to extinguish the fire. Other bogies of the train have been separated from the fire bogie.
PRO Amit Singh said that no passenger was harmed due to the fire. All passengers are safe. The fire broke out in S-1 coach. It has been cut apart. Its front and rear coaches S-2, S-3 and SLR have also been separated as a precautionary measure. The fire has been extinguished 90 percent. The fire started at 5.33 pm. OHE has been closed on the Kanpur-Delhi railway route. The operation of trains on this route is currently at a standstill. 16 trains have been stopped at various places.
