First list of Congress candidates after September 18

Raipur: The final decision regarding the names of the candidates could not be taken in the meeting of the Congress Screening Committee which lasted till late Friday night at the CM House. No consensus could be reached regarding names. Changes can be made in the selection of candidates after the survey report of Delhi. Therefore, the final list will have to wait till the Central Election Committee meeting.

Committee chairman senior Congress leader Ajay Maken, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, state in-charge Kumari Selja, Deputy CM TS Singhdev, PCC President Deepak Baij and members L Hanumanthaiah and Neta D’Souza were present in the meeting.

There was a long discussion regarding the names in the screening committee meeting. In which the panels have been prepared again and some names have also been added. According to information received from sources, Screening Committee Chairman Ajay Maken had also reached the meeting from Delhi with a list of 2 names from all the assemblies. There was a lot of discussion here on the report of the investigation committee and the block level panel. After which it is now being said that a decision will be taken only after the meeting of the Central Election Committee on September 12. However, sources also say that we may have to wait longer for the first list. The first list will be released only after September 18.
