Fishermen were shocked to see a 65 kg fish
Kawardha. Fishermen found a huge fish weighing 65 kg while fishing in the Sarodha reservoir of the district on Monday, which has become a matter of curiosity for the people. The fishermen had cast a net to catch fish in the Sarodha reservoir in the morning. Suddenly the net became heavy and the fisherman felt that a big stone or heavy object was stuck in the net.
When he tried to pull the net, he failed. After this other fishermen were called and with the help of three companions the net was pulled out. As soon as they pulled it out, the fishermen saw that a huge fish 6 feet long and weighing 65 kg was trapped in it. People looked very excited to see the fish. The expert said that this is a fish of the black carp species, whose body is fusiform. They appear dark brown, gray or blue-black and their fins are dark in color.
Sarodha reservoir is part of the medium irrigation project of Kabirdham district. The reservoir is used for fish farming. The reservoir has been leased out to three major fishermen’s committees – Netaji Fishermen’s Committee, Shriram Fishermen’s Cooperative Society, and Kewat Fishermen’s Committee. According to the Fisheries Department, the reservoir has become a major centre of employment for the local people.
