Five of a family killed as car rams into bike in Dindigul
DINDIGUL: A family of five, including two kids, were killed as a car hit the two-wheeler they were riding on in Dindigul on Saturday afternoon. One person was injured who is being treated at the Dindigul Medical College Hospital.
According to a police source, the deceased have been identified as George (35), an electrician, his wife Aruna (27), mother-in-law Saroja (55), and children Rakshan Jo (9) and Ranjitha (3) from Iratalaiparai village in Dindigul.
Sources said that the couple was on their way to a local temple when the accident happened on Natham Road. The family, on a two-wheeler, stopped near an ATM in Nallampatti Privi and continued the ride after retrieving cash. That was when a speeding car, in the opposite direction, ran over the median and hit their bike. In the impact, all five of them were thrown off the vehicle. The car ran over Ranjitha who died on the spot along with Rakshan, George and Aruna. A severely injured Saroja was taken to Dindigul Medical College Hospital and later to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai from where she was declared brought dead.
The car also hit another bike and the rider, Kulanthai Samy (45), was injured. The bodies of the deceased were taken for post-mortem.
