Flood in village, death of sick elderly woman due to lack of treatment
Bijapur. It has been raining continuously since the onset of monsoon in Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. Due to which the river drains are in spate. This flood has also engulfed Dharmaram village situated near Pamed at the end of Usur block. In Dharmaram village, 25 houses of Sarpanch Para have been submerged in flood water. Due to the sinking of the houses, the villagers have taken shelter in other places. At the same time, due to lack of timely treatment, an elderly woman of the village died due to illness.
KG Rajkumar, secretary of Gram Panchayat Dharmaram informed about flood water entering houses in Dharmaram’s sarpanch Para and Poojaripara. He told about the damage to 25 houses in the village due to submergence. Dharmaram village has 164 houses and its population is 557. Chintavagu river, Talperu river and Chhota Nala are the rivers adjacent to Dharmaram village. Right now all these three rivers are in spate. Due to which it is difficult to reach Dharmaram village. After the water recedes, the affected village can be reached.
Let us inform that till now 156.2 mm of rain has been received in Bijapur district. 205.0 mm rainfall has been recorded in Bijapur tehsil, 130.0 mm in Bhairamgarh tehsil, 200.0 mm in Gangalur tehsil, 156.7 mm in Kutru tehsil, 147.4 mm in Usur tehsil and 98.0 mm in Bhopalpatnam tehsil. During the monsoon, Bijapur district has received an average rainfall of 994.4 mm since June 1.
