In fact, the people of Sao Lorenzo de Bairro in Portugal were surprised when a river of red wine started flowing on the streets of this small town.
Reports say that the people there were shocked as lakhs of liters of liquor was flowing down a steep hill in the town and onto the streets. In the video, a fast flowing river of liquor is seen in the streets of the city. According to the New York Post, this mysterious wine river originated from a distillery in the city, where tanks containing more than 22 million liters of red wine barrels burst.
A massive spill occurred, the flow was so strong that it could fill a swimming pool, the incident also raised an environmental alarm as the river of liquor was moving towards a river near the city. The liquor was stored in the basement of a house near the distillery before being sent to the rest of the city.
Before the Sertima River turned into a river of liquor, the fire department started taking action to stop the flood of liquor. The New York Post reports that the flood was diverted and flowed into a nearby field.
Levira Distillery has apologized for the bizarre incident and assured that “we take full responsibility for the costs associated with the cleanup and repair of the damage, with teams working to do so immediately.”
