Flood warning issued to people living on the banks of Thamirabarani
Chennai: Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli have been receiving heavy rains since Monday night, with 1.5 lakh cusecs of water being released at Thamirabarani, causing flooding in the river.
Thoothukudi District Collector Lakshmipathy has issued a warning to villagers living on the banks of Thamirabarani to move to a safe place and has restricted the flow of the river to those who take bath and bathe their animals.
Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli have been receiving fresh rain since last night, with more rain expected in the southern districts on Wednesday, according to the forecast.
