Folk culture has very deep roots in our social life: Sanjay Alang

With the support of the Culture Department of Chhattisgarh Government, a dignified seminar and Kriti Samman on folk culture was organized under the joint aegis of the institution of art, literature and culture Bahumat and the social institution Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Foundation. The chief guest of the seminar was poet, writer and historian Dr. Sanjay Alang. Addressing the function, Dr. Alang said that the roots of folk culture are very deep in Indian society. Their form may be different in different states of the country, but in a broad sense, they all represent the glorious tradition of Indian life. Dr. Sanjay Alang said that the folk culture of Chhattisgarh is pluralistic. It has many forms. It has many directions. It can be said that it is this folk culture which is the center point of harmony in our life.
In the ceremony, Duman Lal Dhruv presented his lecture on tribal folk life, Dr. Sunita Verma on painting and our folk life, Govind Patel on ponds and our public life and Vijay Mishra Amit on Chhattisgarh’s folk theatre. Padma Shri Ajay Mandvi was specially present in the seminar session. Journalist-editor E V Murali, social worker Rajiv Chaubey, founder of Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Foundation Dr. Arun Kumar Srivastava, Chairman of Bahutmahut Mumtaz, Vice President of the Foundation Seema Srivastava were present as the presidium in this event held in two sessions.
In the second session of the seminar, 12 authors were honored with Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Kriti Samman. Renowned story writer Lokbabu was honoured with a shawl, coconut and a memento for his famous novel Bastar Bastar, Durga Prasad Parkar for Chhattisgarhi novel Kevat Kundra, Devendra Goswami for his poetry collection Main Aur Shabd, Duman Lal Dhruv for his newly published book Chhattisgarh Ke Lok Aabhushan, Rajendra Sonboir for his edited book Kaljayi Loknatyas Director Ram Hriday Tiwari, Mayank Chaturvedi for his Ghazal collection Tanha, Mohammad Zakir Hussain for his book Volga Se Shivnath Tak, Shweta Upadhyay for his poetry collection Kavita Si Ladki Nibandh Sa Ladka, Dr. Raunak Jamal for his Urdu story collection Chalis Aadmi, Kamlesh Chandrakar for his children poetry collection School Ke Din Aaye Phir, Dr. Sanjay Dani for his novel Love Jihad, Vijay Mishra Amit for his satirical collection Kallu Kukur Ke Power were honoured with a shawl, coconut and a memento. In his address on this occasion, Editor E V Murali said that honouring writers for their books is a good tradition. Dr. Arun Kumar Srivastava, Founder President of Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Foundation said that Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Kriti Samman has been awarded to the eminent writers of the state by both our institutions. We are confident that this award will also encourage our other writers. President of Bahut Mumtaz said that honouring writing in the context of books is a healthy tradition. We will maintain this tradition in future as well.
