Footfall doubles at Bengaluru’s Avarebelle fair, which will run till January 9
Bengaluru: Bengaluruans are enjoying the 24th edition of ‘Sri Vasavi Avarebele Mela’ at the National College Ground in Basavanagudi till January 9.
A delightful display of sweets and savouries prepared from Avarebele attracts people from diverse backgrounds. Awarebelle Mysore Pak, Awarebelle Ice Cream and Awarebelle-infused Pav Bhaji were available at the fair counters.
The annual festival, which was originally started to prevent the wastage of Averebele, has now grown into a grand celebration. Avarekai is produced by farmers from Magadi and nearby places like Kolar, Hunsur and Chikkamagalur and is purchased directly from farmers to avoid middlemen.
This year’s edition has seen the number of visitors double with almost 300 stalls and over 500 farmers, giving a boost to the Avarebele industry.
