For which fruit tree did the Horticulture Department keep the rate of Rs 100

Mataur. The Horticulture Department has brought a new package of fruit plants for thousands of people who are moving from farming to horticulture. For the plantation to be held in the month of December-January, the department has arranged the saplings in its nurseries and fixed their prices. The gardens will start receiving new saplings from December 15. The Horticulture Department has also prepared a subsidy package for gardeners who want to plant gardens and adopt drip irrigation systems.

There is a provision of up to 80 percent subsidy on irrigation. At the same time, a draft has been made to give grant according to the area even for setting up a new garden. Talking about the rate, in the new season 2023-24, apple trees will be sold at Rs 100 to Rs 180. A pear plant will be available for Rs 80. Apart from this, Japanese fruit at Rs 100, apricot at Rs 90, plum-almond at Rs 80 per bush will be given to the gardeners.

Pomegranate plant will be given for Rs 75. The department has completed preparations for distributing saplings from December 15. Special attention is being given to quality in this. Plantation of these plants can be done in the months of December and January.
Farmers will get these plants by contacting their nearest horticulture office. If we talk about Kangra district alone during the winter season, the department has four nurseries here. Apart from this, 26 private nurseries are registered with the department, but only 13 nurseries provide services this season. There are only apple saplings in the nursery of Multan.

The Horticulture Department has requested farmers to purchase saplings only from the department or from nurseries registered with the department. Subsidy will not be available on boots purchased from other places. Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, Kangra, Dr. Kamalsheel Negi said that subsidy will not be given for purchasing saplings from unregistered nurseries. Farmers should inform the department about those selling unregistered plants. To get saplings, gardeners will have to contact the concerned horticulture development or extension officer.

It should be noted that there are one lakh 35 thousand gardeners in Kangra district and five and a half lakh gardeners in entire Himachal. At present, farmers are increasingly turning from farming to horticulture. Dr. Kamalsheel Negi, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, said that gardeners will get 80 percent subsidy on purchasing drip irrigation system.

In this, the subsidy will be decided on the size of the drip irrigation system. Similarly, farmers who set up a new garden will be given a grant of Rs 2,000 per canal. The special thing is that the layout of the new garden will be made by the officials of the department. For example, experts will decide the gap between sunlight and plants. A grant of Rs 50,000 has been fixed for planting a garden in one hectare (25 kanals). Gardeners will have to apply for this on e-Udyan.
