Forecast of rain with thunder in many districts

Chennai (ANI): The Chennai Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Tirupur districts of Tamil Nadu today. Moreover, the Northeast Monsoon started 15 days ago and was causing heavy rainfall over various districts with isolated heavy falls at times in some districts.

Various parts of Kanchipuram district have been receiving moderate to heavy rainfall from time to time for the last three days. While there was scorching heat since morning, from 3 o’clock in the afternoon it became cloudy in various parts of the district and cool winds started blowing.

Heavy rains are occurring from time to time in Kanchipuram, Walajabad, Uttarmerur, Chennai-Bangalore National Highway. Since today is the festival of Karthigai Deepam, arrangements were made to light lamps in various temples, but due to rain, there was a slight reduction in the work. Also, occasional heavy rains are causing some trouble to the drivers. (ANI)
