Forest guard and watch man arrested for taking bribe of Rs 15,000
Jharsuguda: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a forest guard and watch man in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The arrested have been identified as Jharna Sahu, forest guard of Banaharpalli beat, and Sanjay Barik, watch man of Bandhabhal forest section of Jharsuguda district.
Vigilance sleuths arrested the duo when they were accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a complainant for providing permission and facility to cut trees from the complainant’s homestead.
As per Sahu’s instructions, Barik was caught by the vigilance team while taking the bribe demanded from the complainant. The accused forest guard was also present on the spot.
The entire amount of bribe has been recovered from accused Barik and confiscated. After the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sahu from the DA angle.
In this regard, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No. 31 dated 10.12.2023, Section 7 P.C. According to. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is going on against accused Sahu and watchman.
