Former CM Jagan Reddy accuses TDP of attacking YSRC supporters
KADAPA: Accusing Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of engineering and encouraging attacks against YSRC supporters, party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the government of creating an atmosphere of terror in the State.
The former chief minister visited RIMS Kadapa on Saturday and met Ajay Kumar Reddy, a 25-year-old youth who was hospitalised after allegedly being attacked by TDP men. Jagan said Ajay was attacked just because he voted for the YSRC and supported the party.
Condemning the attack, Jagan reiterated that the TDP-led NDA government was resorting to a vicious culture of attacking rivals physically and mentally. Charging the yellow party with creating a fear psychosis, he said, “People have never been attacked before for voting for someone else. Such a culture has been alien to Pulivendula.” He demanded Naidu to direct TDP supporters and cadre to desist from attacking rivals.
Jagan said, “By committing such atrocities, the yellow party is encouraging victims to reciprocate in the same manner in the future, which is not the right precedence. As leaders, we should never encourage such things.”
Invoking the Mahabharata, Jagan said, “Those in power today, might not be in power tomorrow. Change is the only constant. Like Sisupala who suffered doom after committing 100 mistakes, Naidu, too, will face a similar fate.”
Further, the YSRC chief alleged that various systems under the new government were not functioning properly. Stating that the YSRC lost 10% vote share because of the deceptive promises of the TDP, he hoped that the NDA government keeps the promises made to the people.
“Farmers are yet to receive financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa and mothers are waiting for Amma Vodi. It is time for the government to keep its promise of extending Rs 1,500 to the women every month, and Rs 3,000 unemployment allowance to youth,” he said.
Earlier, Jagan was given a rousing welcome at the Kadapa airport. He headed to his home constituency of Pulivendula for a three-day visit.
This is the YSRC chief’s second visit to Kadapa in less than a month. Jagan will pay tributes to his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday, on the occasion of the latter’s birth anniversary.
Meanwhile, Vempalle police arrested four of the 10 people who allegedly attacked Ajay Kumar Reddy on Friday near Shilparamam in Pulivendula.
Vempalle CI Chand Basha said the accused claimed to have attacked Ajay Kumar for insulting and making derogatory posts against TDP Vempalle mandal leaders Raghunath Reddy and Raviteja Reddy.
The accused were identified as G Hidayatulla, Mallela Maheswar of Simhadripuram mandal, Sivakumar Reddy of Kondapuram mandal, Ramireddy Dhaneswar Reddy of Vemula mandal. Search is on for the remaining six accused in the attack case.
