Former CM’s weight reduced by five kilos in jail, family worried
Amaravati: The family of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is worried about his health in Rajahmundry Central Jail, where his weight has decreased by five kilos. Naidu has been in jail for over a month after he was arrested by the CID in the skills development scam case.
Naidu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari and daughter-in-law N Brahmani said on Friday that he had lost five kilograms and the weight loss could have an adverse effect on his kidneys.
It is being told that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo is suffering from dehydration and skin allergy. Bhuvaneshwari said she is deeply concerned for her husband’s well-being, as the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to provide him with the urgently needed medical care.
“He has already lost 5kg, and further weight loss could have serious consequences on his kidneys,” she posted on Instagram. Brahmani posted on Twitter that Naidu is currently detained in inadequate and unsanitary prison conditions, which pose a significant risk to his health.
“He requires immediate medical care, as medical professionals have expressed concern about his well-being,” Brahmani wrote. Medical facilities are not being provided on time. His weight has reduced by 5 kg and additional weight loss may have adverse effects on his kidneys. We are very worried about them.”
73-year-old Naidu is said to be suffering from dehydration and skin allergies due to the heat and lack of adequate facilities in the jail. Jail authorities on Thursday called dermatologists to examine him after he complained of skin problems. He prescribed some medicines. Jail authorities issued a bulletin saying all vital parameters of Naidu were normal and there was no need for any concern.
Naidu’s son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh had on Wednesday complained to Union Home Minister Amit Shah that his father’s life was in danger in jail. Lokesh, who met Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday night, alleged that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was targeting him due to political vendetta.
