Former minister Akbar’s brother got contracts worth Rs 200 crore, will investigate: OP Chaudhary
Raipur (Jaseri). On the instructions of Housing and Environment Minister OP Chaudhary, 10 works worth Rs 218 crore have been snatched in Nava Raipur. Out of these, 9 works worth about Rs 200 crore were being done by Raipur Construction Company and the remaining one work was with a company named Kalyan Toll.
The proprietor of Raipur Construction Company is Mohammad Asghar. A complaint regarding this matter has been made to Minister OP along with documents. OP said that this company is owned by former minister Mohd. Is related to Akbar’s family. This will be investigated. All the work was to be completed in June, yet the company was being given extensions every three months.
Upon investigation it also came to light that in the work of smart city, 50 per cent share is shared by the Center and 50 per cent by the state. Smart city work will stop in June. In such a situation, the entire expenditure will have to be borne by the state. In view of this, OP has asked to speed up the work. Rs 100 crore has also been paid to Asgar. NRDA officials said that 14 works are with Raipur Construction Company. Out of these, the company has almost completed 6 works. The pace of the remaining 9 works was very slow.
About Rs 100 crore has been paid to the company so far. Instructions for strict action: In the meeting, Housing and Environment Minister said that strict action should be taken against contractors doing low quality work and contracts should be terminated. He said that special care should be taken to ensure that all the projects are completed within the time limit.
Officials complained: During the meeting, officials said that despite repeated notices, the situation of many contractors did not improve. At the same time, most of the smart city work is being done by only a few contractors. Along with the quality being affected, there was also no progress in the work. Therefore, the decision taken by top officials said that the deadline of Smart City is ending in June 2024. In such a situation, this decision has been taken to complete the project on time. There is pressure to complete school, Anganwadi, bus staff, garden, parking etc. on time. Now Smart City Limited will get the work done at a faster pace from new contractors.
The brother of former minister Mohammad Akbar had got all the work. The surprising thing is that the tender for the 10 works has been canceled by Environment and Housing Minister OP Choudhary. All these 10 works were given to Raipur Construction Limited Company. Whose director Mohammad Asghar is the brother of former minister Mohammad Akbar.
