Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returns home after four years of exile in London

Islamabad: Sharif told reporters before leaving for Islamabad from Dubai, “Today I am going to Pakistan after four years and by the grace of Allah I am very happy.” He arrived in the UAE from Saudi Arabia on Friday after traveling from London last week. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan on Saturday after spending four years in self-exile in London. In a post on Twitter, the PML-N said, “Quaid PMLN, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived at Dubai airport to board “Umeed-e-Pakistan” flight for his historic visit to Pakistan. Look who came!!”

Expressing concern over the economic condition of Pakistan, he said that the country is going backward “economically and in terms of unity”. “When I remember Pakistan at that time, I feel sad, we had said goodbye to the International Monetary Fund, electricity was cheap, rupee was stable, there was employment, the price of bread was Rs 4, a child from a poor family Went to school and had medicines.” Cheaper too,” he said.

Nawaz left Pakistan in November 2019, two years after leaving office after being convicted in a corruption case.

He was serving a seven-year prison sentence in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail in the Al-Azizia Mills case when he was allowed to visit London on “medical grounds” in 2019.

He was convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018 and was disqualified for life by the Supreme Court for concealing assets.
