Ganja seized from passenger auto, SST team had received information
Raigarh: The Chakradharnagar police have successfully apprehended two individuals involved in interstate ganja smuggling during a recent operation. A total of 10 kilograms of ganja, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 1 lakh, were confiscated from the smugglers. Chakradharnagar Police has taken legal action against the accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act and placed them in judicial custody.
Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, the informant was activated by the Chakradharnagar station’s Inspector Prashant Rao Aher to combat drug-related activities. Acting on the information received from the informant, the station in-charge of Chakradhar Nagar learned that two individuals were traveling by auto from Kankatora (Orissa)-Ektal Road. One of them was carrying Vimal Pan Masala in a bag, while the other had ganja in a black bag. In response to this information, the police station in-charge immediately alerted the Special Strike Team (SST) stationed at the Ektal barrier and dispatched them to conduct a ganja raid. The Chakradharnagar police team intercepted the auto with registration number CG 13 Y 6493, which was coming from Odisha, near the Ektal barrier.
Five passengers, including the driver, were seated in the auto. Upon inquiry, the driver identified himself as Shahbaz Khan, a resident of Maudhapara Raigarh, and the passengers as Navratan from Mehar, Bajrangdeepa Raigarh, Madan Yadav from Bajrang Para Raigarh. According to information received from an informant, two suspicious passengers were identified, and they provided their names as follows: (1) Devi Lal Meena, son of Kanhaiya Lal Meena, aged 55, hailing from Sakin Ambeh Labchakra police station, Fatehgarh district, Guna, Madhya Pradesh, and (2) Daulat Banjara, son of Premsingh Banjara, aged 32, from Sakin Ambe police station, Kumhraj district, Guna, Madhya Pradesh.
Upon questioning the two suspects, it was revealed that the auto driver had offered them a ride from Kanaktora (Orissa) to Raigarh for Rs 200. During a search of their bags, the police discovered 10 kilograms of ganja, valued at Rs 1 lakh, which both suspects admitted they were transporting for illegal sale. In response, the accused individuals, Devi Lal Meena and Daulat Banjara, have been taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody under Section 20 (B) of the NDPS Act at the Chakradharnagar police station.
