Ganja smuggling at the tip of the smuggler, GRP arrested both the accused
Bilaspur. Smugglers have now started smuggling ganja in trains at gunpoint. On Thursday, the anti-crime team of Bilaspur GRP caught two smugglers from Odisha. Two country-made kattas and three cartridges were recovered from them along with ganja. The GRP has arrested both the accused. At the same time, the Sakri police seized 35 kg of ganja from the kitchen of a woman and arrested her.
SRP Rail JR Thakur has instructed the officers and in-charge as well as the team to stop smuggling of intoxicants including ganja in trains. For this, he has asked for a thorough investigation. Along with this, he has also constituted an anti-crime team to prevent illegal smuggling in trains, which is continuously taking action against smugglers. The team got information that two youths had landed at Charoda station carrying ganja in the train. As soon as the news was received, the team of Anti-Crime and Charoda GRP laid siege and was keeping an eye on the suspects.
During this, the team was monitoring the suspects after reaching Charoda station. At the same time, the team members were also posted on the outer. Meanwhile, he stopped two suspects in the outer. On enquiry, it was found that Prashant Nanda (24) father Raju Nanda, and Santosh Kshatriya (35) are residents of Balangir, Odisha. The team searched his bag, then four kg 60 grams of ganja came out of it. Along with this, two country made pistols and three cartridges were also recovered from the smugglers’ bag.
