Gift shop set on fire with firecrackers, 2 miscreants arrested

Raipur : Two youths who set fire to a gift shop in Golbazar area with firecrackers have been arrested. Police. The loss in this arson is estimated at Rs 14-20 lakh. According to the police, there was a fire at Sanjay Dewani’s Pooja Gift Corner on the night of 12th November. Due to this he has suffered a loss of Rs 15 to 20 lakh. The application was taken up for investigation by establishing arson in police station Golbazar. During the investigation, after observing the CCTV footage installed in the Pooja Gift Corner, accused Shobhit alias Janu was seen throwing burning firecrackers twice aiming at the broken window of the Pooja Gift Corner shop in Favwara Chowk Nayapara Golbazar on 12th evening.

At the same time, in the footage of the camera installed in the Pooja Gift Corner on the first floor, sparks of explosion were visible in the Pooja Gift Corner located on the first floor. Also, the accused Shailaj alias Shailu was also seen throwing burning firecrackers aiming at the same broken window. which did not go inside and hit the window and fell down. On examination of the CCTV footage, the accused was found to have deliberately thrown the burning firecracker from the window inside the incident site with the intention of causing damage, due to which the same was found in the gift item kept at the incident site. (worth approximately Rs 15 to 20 lakh) were burnt. Golbazar police registered section 436, 511 of Indian Penal Code and took it under investigation. On the basis of CCTV footage, Shobhit alias Jaanu and Shailaj alias Shailu were taken into custody and interrogated. The shop owner, who had earlier interrupted the accused, was found throwing burning firecrackers into the shop with the intention of causing damage to the shop, and was arrested, produced before the court and sent to jail.
