Goa: 70 cases of dengue reported in November
Panjim: The state recorded 70 dengue cases in the month of November this year, which is 31 less than the cases reported last month, an official of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) said.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Dr Kalpana Mahatme, National Vector Borne Disease Control Health Officer, Directorate of Health Services, said, “We had 70 cases in the month of November this year. We had cases till November due to irregular rains. But now suspicious cases are coming less. There is a declining trend in some crowded areas in migrant settlement areas, except Vasco, Margao, Cortalim and Chimbel. Other areas are clean.”
“Our regular preventive control measures are ongoing such as door-to-door visits, source reduction campaigns, awareness activities, fogging where there is breeding and cases,” Dr Mahtame said.
“At the moment we are also focusing on construction sites as we are tracing workers coming with fever from endemic states and detecting positivity,” Dr Mahatme said.
101 cases were reported in the state in October this year, while 90 cases were reported in the same period last year.
